Miller's professional football career began in 1987 when he was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons as the 13th pick overall. He played for the Falcons for five seasons, leading the team to the playoffs twice. During his tenure with the Falcons, Miller set numerous records, including a single-season mark of 4,103 passing yards in 1991. In 1994, Miller was traded to the St. Louis Rams, where he played for another two seasons. Miller's NFL career was plagued by injuries, and he retired in 1999.
