Chuck Muncie Autographs
Chuck Muncie was an American football player, who played the position of running back. He was born on March 17, 1953, in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of California, where he played football for the California Golden Bears from 1973 to 1975. He was an All-American in his senior year and rushed for over 1,000 yards in both his junior and senior years.
In 1976, Muncie was drafted by the New Orleans Saints as the third overall pick in the first round. He played for the Saints for four seasons and was considered one of the best running backs in the league. He rushed for over 1,000 yards in the 1979 season, and in the 164 games he played for the Saints, he scored 55 touchdowns. In 1980, he was traded to the San Diego Chargers, where he played for another four seasons. In his first season with the Chargers, he rushed for a career-high 1,198 yards and scored 19 touchdowns.
Unfortunately, Muncie's career was cut short due to drug addiction. He was suspended by the NFL in 1984 for violating the league's substance abuse policy. He tried to make a comeback in 1985 with the Minnesota Vikings but was cut before the start of the regular season. Despite his struggles off the field, Muncie was a dominant force on the field and was inducted into the San Diego Chargers Hall of Fame in 1998. He passed away on May 13, 2013, at the age of 60.
