Cie Grant is a former American football player and linebacker that played college football at The Ohio State University. He was born on May 13, 1981, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, and played football at New Philadelphia High School before committing to Ohio State. Grant was a highly recruited player with impressive physical attributes and was considered one of the nation's top linebackers prospect. In 2003, Cie Grant was signed as an undrafted free agent by the National Football League (NFL) team, the New Orleans Saints. He played for the Saints in his rookie season but was waived by the team in 2004. Grant then signed with the Dallas Cowboys the same year but only played in two games during his tenure with the team. Later in 2004, he joined the NFL Europe's Rhein Fire team, where he recorded an impressive six tackles for loss and two sacks. However, he suffered a knee injury and missed the team's final game. He then went back to the Cowboys for the 2004 season before being waived again.
Cie Grant's NFL career was short-lived, but his college football career left an impression at The Ohio State University. He was part of the 2002 Ohio State Buckeyes team that won the BCS National Championship, where he made a significant contribution with a quarterback sack in the championship game against the University of Miami. Following his football career, Grant worked as a sports analyst for the Buckeye Sports Network and eventually became the director of Player Development for the Ohio State Football program.
