Dan McGwire, born on December 18, 1967, is a retired American football quarterback. He has had an interesting career that was marked with accolades and achievements. McGwire started his American football career at San Diego State University. In 1989, McGwire became the starting quarterback for the San Diego State University Aztecs football team. He became the third San Diego State Aztecs quarterback to pass for more than 4,000 yards. McGwire's achievements eventually earned him All-American honors in both 1990 and 1991.
In 1991, McGwire was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the first round as the 16th pick. Unfortunately, McGwire's professional football career did not live up to his college career's expectations. He played for four seasons, starting in two games and had thrown only two touchdown passes in his pro career. McGwire eventually retired from the NFL in 1996 due to injury concerns. That same year, he moved on to coaching high school football at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, where he developed the skills of many young aspiring football players.
Despite his limited professional football career, Dan McGwire's talent at his college level is undeniable. He remains a significant figure in San Diego State University's football history, and his records still stand to this day. Today, Dan McGwire is out of the football scene and has ventured out to other business ventures.
