Dante Fowler Jr. is an American football defensive end currently playing for the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League (NFL). Fowler was born on August 3, 1994, in St. Petersburg, Florida, and attended Lakewood High School. He was a two-sport athlete, playing football and basketball, but excelled in football, earning All-State honors twice. He played college football at the University of Florida, where he was a member of the Florida Gators team from 2012 to 2014.
Fowler declared for the NFL Draft in January 2015 and was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first round as the third overall pick. He played for the Jaguars for three years before being traded to the Los Angeles Rams before the 2018 season. In his first season with the Rams, Fowler had the best season of his career, recording 11.5 sacks and playing a major role in the team's defensive success. In 2020, Fowler signed a three-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons, where he continues to play as a defensive end.
Fowler has shown great versatility as a defensive player, being able to play as a pass-rushing defensive end or an outside linebacker to drop into pass coverage. His speed and athleticism have made him a formidable opponent on the field. With a career total of 37.5 sacks and 7 forced fumbles, Fowler shows no signs of slowing down and is expected to continue to be a major player in the league for years to come.
