Darnay Holmes is an American football player who currently plays as a cornerback for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He was born on November 2, 1998, in Pasadena, California, and attended Calabasas High School where he was a three-time All-American and was ranked as one of the top cornerbacks in the country. Holmes was one of the most highly recruited high school players in the nation, receiving offers from several top college programs.
Holmes attended UCLA, where he played college football for the Bruins from 2017 to 2019. In his freshman year, he was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team after recording 3 interceptions and 11 pass breakups. Holmes continued to perform well for the Bruins and was named to the All-Pac-12 second team in his junior year. Following his junior season, Holmes decided to forego his senior year and declared for the 2020 NFL Draft.
Holmes was picked by the New York Giants in the fourth round of the draft, and he impressed in his rookie year, playing in 12 games, recording 30 tackles, and defending one pass. Despite missing some time due to injury in his sophomore year, Holmes has continued to show promise, and he is expected to have a bright future in the NFL. With his combination of physicality, speed, and tactical savvy, Darnay Holmes has the potential to become a top cornerback in the league.
