Dave Duerson Autographs

Dave DuersonDave Duerson was born on November 28th, 1960, in Muncie, Indiana. He excelled as a student athlete in high school, earning a football scholarship to the University of Notre Dame. While at Notre Dame, Duerson played safety and helped lead the Fighting Irish to a national championship in 1978. He was named an All-American in 1982 and was drafted in the third round of the NFL draft by the Chicago Bears.
Duerson played seven seasons with the Chicago Bears from 1983 to 1989. He was an instrumental part of the team's success, helping them win Super Bowl XX in 1986 with his strong play at safety. He was named to the Pro Bowl in four consecutive seasons from 1985 to 1988 and was named an All-Pro in 1986 and 1987. Duerson's hard-hitting style and aggressive play on the field made him a fan favorite and a feared opponent. In 1989, he was traded to the New York Giants, where he played for one season before retiring from football in 1991.
After his football career, Duerson became an entrepreneur, owning several businesses in the food and beverage industry. He also served as the chairman of the board of trustees at historically black colleges and universities, working to provide opportunities for minority students. Unfortunately, in 2011, Duerson committed suicide, and his brain was later found to have chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain condition caused by repeated head trauma. Duerson's death helped raise awareness about the dangers of concussions in football and the need for better safety measures for athletes.
