Bess started his professional football career with the Miami Dolphins, where he played as a wide receiver and punt return specialist from 2008-2012. He established himself as a dependable target for quarterback Chad Henne, leading the team in receptions in the 2009 and 2010 seasons. In 2013, he was traded to the Cleveland Browns, where he spent one season before eventually ending his career with the Arizona Cardinals in 2015. Over his career, he recorded over 5,000 receiving yards and scored 15 touchdowns.

While his football career was successful, Bess faced personal challenges that led to his retirement from the NFL. He battled mental health issues, which were highlighted during an incident in 2014, where he was arrested for assaulting a police officer at an airport. The event led to his placement on the reserve/non-football illness list for the remainder of the 2014 season. Bess retired the following year, leaving a lasting impact on the football field and creating awareness around mental health in sports. Read even more about Davone Bess at Wikipedia
