Dick Jauron Autographs
Dick Jauron is a retired American football coach and former player. He was born on October 7, 1950, in Swampscott, Massachusetts, and attended Yale University, where he played college football as a defensive back. During his college career, Jauron was a two-time All-Ivy League selection and helped lead the Bulldogs to their first outright Ivy League championship in 1968.
After college, Jauron was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the fourth round of the 1973 NFL Draft. He played seven seasons in the NFL as a safety for the Lions before retiring as a player in 1980. Following his playing career, Jauron began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Yale, before moving on to coach at numerous colleges and teams, including the Buffalo Bills, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, and Cleveland Browns.
Jauron's most successful stint as a coach came during his time with the Chicago Bears, where he served as head coach from 1999 to 2003. In 2001, Jauron was named NFL Coach of the Year after leading the Bears to a 13-3 record and a trip to the playoffs. Jauron also served as defensive coordinator for several teams, including the Carolina Panthers and the Philadelphia Eagles, before retiring from coaching in 2014. Throughout his career, Jauron was known for his defensive expertise and his ability to cultivate a strong and cohesive team culture.
