Dominic Raiola is a former American football center who played 14 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Born on December 30, 1978, in Honolulu, Hawaii, Raiola grew up in the mainland United States and attended the University of Nebraska, where he played football for the Cornhuskers. In 2001, he was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round, serving as the team's starting center for over a decade.
During his stint with the Lions, Raiola proved to be a pillar of consistency and durability, starting every game from 2002 to 2013. He was known for his toughness, intelligence, and work ethic, earning him the respect of his peers and fans alike. Statistically, Raiola played in 219 games, making him one of the most active centers in NFL history. Additionally, he was twice named a team captain and went to the Pro Bowl in 2010.
Despite his accolades, Raiola's career was not without controversy. He was often cited for on-field misconduct, including multiple personal foul penalties and a fine for stomping on an opposing player's leg.
