Doug Dickey Autographs
Doug Dickey was a legendary American football coach and former player who achieved remarkable success throughout his career. He was born on June 24, 1932, in Miami, Florida, and grew up playing football during his high school years. After graduating from high school, he went to the University of Florida, where he played quarterback and punter for the Gators football team from 1951 to 1953.
After his playing career, Dickey began coaching, and his first college coaching job was as an assistant coach at the University of Arkansas in 1960. He later became the head coach of his alma mater, the University of Florida, in 1970. During his tenure, he led the Gators to three consecutive Southeastern Conference (SEC) titles, and they went on to win two major bowl games, including the Gator Bowl in 1973 and the Sugar Bowl in 1974.
Dickey was a well-respected coach who made significant contributions to college football. He was inducted into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983, and he was also honored by the National Football Foundation, which awarded him the Distinguished American Award in 1991. Doug Dickey passed away on July 29, 2018, at the age of 86, but his legacy in American football will always be remembered.
