Doug Plank Autographs
Doug Plank is a retired professional American football player born on August 4, 1953. He was born and raised in Billings, Montana, and later attended Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where he played college football from 1971 to 1974. At Ohio State, Plank was a standout player, and in his senior year, he was named an All-American safety.
Doug Plank played his entire professional career as a safety for the Chicago Bears. He was drafted by the Bears in the 12th round of the 1975 NFL Draft. Plank was known as a ferocious hitter and hard-nosed defensive player, and his aggressive style of play made him a fan favorite in Chicago. He is best known for his signature move, which was a tackle technique that involved grabbing onto an opponent's jersey and dragging them down to the ground. Plank played for the Bears from 1975 to 1982, and he was a team captain for several years.
After retiring from the NFL, Doug Plank went on to coach football. He served as an assistant coach for several teams, including the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League and the Ohio State Buckeyes. In 1995, he became the head coach of the AFL's Orlando Predators, leading the team to two ArenaBowl championships in three seasons. Plank was inducted into the Chicago Bears Hall of Fame in 1999, and his legacy as a hard-hitting defensive player and successful coach is still remembered by fans today.
