Dre Kirkpatrick is an American football player born on October 26, 1989, in Gadsden, Alabama. From a young age, he displayed exceptional skills as an athlete, and his love for football was evident. Kirkpatrick played high school football at Gadsden City High School, where he quickly became a star player. During his senior year, he recorded 91 tackles and 5 interceptions, attracting college scouts from across the country.
Kirkpatrick went on to attend the University of Alabama, where he became a starter in his sophomore year. He played an essential role in the Alabama Crimson Tide's BCS National Championship victories in 2011 and 2012. After his junior year, Kirkpatrick decided to forego his senior season and enter the 2012 NFL Draft.
The Cincinnati Bengals drafted Kirkpatrick in the first round, 17th overall. During his rookie season, he played primarily on special teams but slowly earned more playing time on defense. Kirkpatrick eventually became a starter for the Bengals and played seven seasons with the team. He recorded 302 tackles, 10 interceptions, and 55 passes defended during his time with the team. In March 2020, Dre signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals, where he continues to play as a starting cornerback.
