Earl Morrall Autographs
Earl Morrall was a remarkable NFL quarterback who played for 21 seasons from 1956 to 1976. He began his career with the San Francisco 49ers as the second overall pick in the 1956 NFL Draft after a stellar college career at Michigan State University. Throughout his career, Morrall played for six different teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, New York Giants, Baltimore Colts, and Miami Dolphins.
Morrall's most notable achievements came as a backup quarterback. In 1968, he stepped in for an injured Johnny Unitas and led the Baltimore Colts to a 13-1 record, earning the NFL Most Valuable Player award. He also played a crucial role in the Miami Dolphins' perfect 1972 season, starting 11 games when Bob Griese was injured. Morrall's performance that year earned him the inaugural NFL Comeback Player of the Year Award and AFC Player of the Year honors.
Over his career, Morrall threw for 20,809 yards and 161 touchdowns. He was a two-time Pro Bowl selection (1957, 1968) and a two-time first-team All-Pro (1968, 1972). Morrall's ability to step in and perform at a high level made him one of the greatest backup quarterbacks in NFL history. After retiring in 1977, he served as a quarterback coach at the University of Miami and later as the mayor of Davie, Florida.
