Eric Hipple was born on September 16, 1957, in Lubbock, Texas. He is an American former professional quarterback who played 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). After his football career, Hipple became an advocate for mental health, particularly suicide prevention. He has spoken publicly about his own struggles with depression and the suicide of his teenage son, Jeff, in 2000. He has written books and has been an active speaker on the topic, encouraging people to seek help for mental health issues and to remove the stigma surrounding mental illness.
