Erik Walden is a retired American professional football player who played as an outside linebacker in the National Football League (NFL). He was born on August 21, 1985, in Dublin, Georgia, and attended Dublin High School where he was an all-state defensive end. After going undrafted in the 2008 NFL Draft, Walden signed with the Dallas Cowboys but was waived before the start of the season. He then signed with the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad in November 2008, where he remained for the rest of the season. In 2009, Walden signed with the Miami Dolphins, where he played for two seasons before joining the Green Bay Packers in 2010. He won a Super Bowl championship with the Packers in his first season with the team, recording three sacks in the playoffs. Walden played ten seasons in the NFL for various teams, accumulating 365 tackles, 37 sacks, and six forced fumbles. He retired in 2018 after a short stint with the Tennessee Titans.
Off the field, Walden is known for his philanthropic efforts. He founded the Erik Walden Foundation in 2010 to provide support and resources to underprivileged children and families in his hometown of Dublin, Georgia. The foundation hosts annual events, including a backpack drive and Thanksgiving turkey giveaway, and has awarded over $50,000 in college scholarships to local students. Walden's dedication to giving back to his community has earned him numerous awards and recognition, including being named a finalist for the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2016.
