Frank Tripucka Autographs
Frank Tripucka was an American professional football player who played as a quarterback in the National Football League. Born on December 8, 1927, in Bloomfield, New Jersey, Tripucka was a graduate of St. Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey. He attended the University of Notre Dame, where he played college football and was later selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1949 NFL draft.
Tripucka played for the Eagles for three seasons before being traded to the Detroit Lions in 1952. In 1953, he signed with the Denver Broncos of the American Football League (AFL) and became the first quarterback in the history of the team. Tripucka had a breakout year in 1960 by throwing for 3,038 yards and 24 touchdowns. Breaking the single-season touchdown record of 23 was one of the greatest pieces of American Football history created by Frank Tripucka. He was also the Broncos' first quarterback to earn a Pro Bowl, helping turn the Broncos from a league doormat to a competitive force in the AFL.
After his playing career, Frank Tripucka became a scout and assistant coach with the Broncos before leaving football to become a successful businessman. In 1986, Tripucka was inducted into the University of Notre Dame Football Hall of Fame, solidifying his place as one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the university. Frank Tripucka is also included in the Broncos' Ring of Fame, a tribute to the team's most notable players, coaches, and executives. He passed away in 2013 at the age of 85 after leaving a great legacy from his decades of impact on American Football.
