Fred Dryer Autographs
Fred Dryer is an American former football player, sports commentator, and actor. Born on July 6, 1946, in Hawthorne, California, Dryer excelled in sports during his high school years. He played football at Lawndale High School and was part of the team that won the CIF championship in 1964. After high school, Dryer attended San Diego State University on a football scholarship, where he played defensive end from 1964 to 1968. He finished his college football career with 26 sacks and was named an All-American twice.
Dryer's professional football career began when he was drafted in the first round of the 1969 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. He spent two seasons with the Giants before being traded to the Los Angeles Rams in 1972, with whom he played the majority of his career. Dryer set the Rams' record for most sacks in a season in 1975 with 13.5, a record that still stands today. He was named to the Pro Bowl twice and was also honored with the Rams' Lineman of the Year award three times. Dryer retired from football in 1981, after playing for 13 seasons in the NFL, during which he amassed an impressive 104 sacks, 498 tackles, and 13 fumble recoveries.
After his football career, Dryer became a sports commentator, and later an actor, best known for his role as Sergeant Rick Hunter on the popular television show "Hunter." Despite his successful acting career, Dryer remains highly respected for his accomplishments in the football world. In 1997, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame, and in 2016, he was honored by the Los Angeles Rams by being named one of the top 100 players in franchise history. Fred Dryer's legacy as a football player has made him an influential figure in the history of the sport.
