Fred Taylor is a former professional American football player, born on January 27, 1976, in Pahokee, Florida. He was an excellent athlete and excelled in several sports, including football, basketball, and track and field, during his high school days. Fred Taylor's football career began at the University of Florida, where he played for the Florida Gators from 1994 to 1997. He was a two-time first-team All-SEC selection and was named the SEC Player of the Year in 1997. During his four years at Florida, Taylor rushed for 3,075 yards and 31 touchdowns. In the 1998 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected Fred Taylor as the ninth overall pick. He played for the Jaguars for 11 seasons, from 1998 to 2008, and is widely regarded as the best player in the franchise's history. During his tenure with the Jaguars, Taylor set several franchise records, including rushing yards (11,271) and rushing touchdowns (62).
