George Halas, also known as "Papa Bear," is a legendary figure in American Football. Born on February 2, 1895, in Chicago, Illinois, Halas was a football player, coach, and owner who played a pivotal role in the development of the sport in America. Halas was a star athlete at the University of Illinois and played in the NFL for ten years during the 1920s. He scored the first touchdown in NFL history in 1920 as a member of the Decatur Staleys, later renamed the Chicago Bears, and went on to become one of the most successful and influential coaches in the league.
