Gino Torretta Autographs
Gino Torretta is a retired American football quarterback who had an illustrious college career and played professionally in the National Football League (NFL). He was born on August 10, 1970, in Pinole, California, where he attended Pinole Valley High School. He played football at Pinole and was named the team's most valuable player for two consecutive seasons. After high school, Torretta enrolled at the University of Miami, where he continued his football career.
At the University of Miami, Torretta played for the Hurricanes from 1989 to 1992, where he established himself as one of the top quarterbacks in the country. In 1992, he led the Hurricanes to a perfect 12-0 record, winning the national championship and becoming the recipient of the Heisman Trophy. Torretta finished his college career with more than 7,000 passing yards and 47 touchdown passes. He was also a two-time All-American and received various other awards for his outstanding performances.
After his college career, Torretta was drafted in the seventh round of the 1993 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings, but he never played for them. Instead, he played for the Detroit Lions, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, Indianapolis Colts, and New England Patriots during his six-year NFL career. He played mostly as a backup quarterback and had only 137 pass completions in 11 games. After he retired in 1999, Torretta became a sports commentator and analyst for college football games. He was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 1999 and into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2009.
