Greg Lloyd Autographs
Greg Lloyd is a former professional American football player who was born on May 26, 1965, in Miami, Florida. He played as a linebacker, considered one of the most feared in the game's history, and was a dominant force in the National Football League (NFL) during the 1990s. Lloyd's football career began when he played for Central High School in Miami, where he was named to the All-County and All-State teams. He then went on to play collegiately at Fort Valley State University in Georgia, where he earned All-American honors and was considered one of the school's all-time great players.
Lloyd was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round of the 1987 NFL Draft, where he immediately made an impact as a special teams player. He soon became a star linebacker for the team, earning five Pro Bowl selections and three First-Team All-Pro honors during his time playing for the Steelers. Lloyd was known for his hard-hitting and aggressive style of play and became one of the most feared defenders in the NFL. He was a critical part of the Steelers' defensive success in the 1990s, which saw the team reach the playoffs six times and play in Super Bowl XXX.
Injuries eventually took its toll on Lloyd, and he was released by the Steelers in 1998. He played one season with the Carolina Panthers and retired from the NFL after the 1999 season. Lloyd's legacy as a football player is evident in his induction into Fort Valley State University's Athletic Hall of Fame, the Black College Football Hall of Fame, and the Pittsburgh Steelers Hall of Honor. He is considered one of the most dominant linebackers to play the game and continues to be recognized as one of the all-time greats in football history.
