Hanford Dixon is a former professional American Football player who was a cornerback for the Cleveland Browns from 1981 to 1989. He was born on December 25, 1958, in Mobile, Alabama, and attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he played college football for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles. After a successful college career, Dixon was drafted in the first round of the 1981 NFL Draft, with 22nd overall pick, by the Cleveland Browns. More about Hanford Dixon

During his time with the Cleveland Browns, Hanford Dixon became famous for his role in the creation of the "Dawg Pound," a group of Cleveland Browns fans known for their intense loyalty and vocal support of the team. Dixon was a key part of the Browns' dominant defensive unit in the 1980s, which was nicknamed the "Dawg Defense" because of its ferocious play. Dixon was chosen for the Pro Bowl three times and was named a First-Team All-Pro once in his career. He was also a member of the Browns' Kardiac Kids team that made it to the playoffs in 1986.

After retiring from football in 1992, Hanford Dixon went on to work as a sports analyst for FOX and other media outlets. He also continued to be involved with the Cleveland Browns organization, serving as an honorary captain at home games and supporting various community outreach programs.
