After a successful college career, Cross was selected by the New York Giants in the sixth round of the 1992 NFL Draft. He quickly established himself as a valuable member of the Giants' offense and played an important role in their Super Bowl victory in 1991. Over the course of his career, he played in 207 regular-season games, caught 201 passes for 2,194 yards, and scored 17 touchdowns. He was known for his excellent blocking ability and was praised by teammates and coaches for his work ethic and leadership on and off the field.

Cross retired from the NFL after the 2001 season and has since become an established sports analyst and commentator.
