Twilley continued his football career at the University of Tulsa, where he was nicknamed "Touchdown" for his remarkable playmaking abilities.
During his college career, Twilley amassed an impressive 239 receptions for 3,343 yards, setting multiple records for the University of Tulsa. In 1965, Twilley was drafted by the National Football League (NFL) team, Miami Dolphins. During his football career, Twilley was one of the most reliable wide receivers in NFL history, known for his precision and agility on the field.
Twilley's NFL career spanned over a decade, from 1966 to 1976. During this period, he played in two Super Bowls, including the historic 1972 undefeated season of the Miami Dolphins. He was one of the most consistent performers in the league, making him an essential member of the Dolphins' offense. After his retirement, Twilley returned to the University of Tulsa as a coach, where he continued to make an impact on the football program, inspiring young players with his wealth of experience and knowledge.
