Irv Cross Autographs

Irv CrossIrv Cross was a former American football player and commentator best known for his significant contributions to the game of football. Born in Hammond, Indiana, Cross began playing American football during his time at the Northwestern University where he played for the Wildcats football team. He played as a defensive back, and his impressive skills on the field saw him receive considerable recognition from sports enthusiasts across the country.
After a successful college career, Cross signed up to play professionally in the National Football League (NFL). He joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 1961, where he played for six seasons. Cross was an outstanding player, and his contributions to the game greatly benefited his team. However, his most successful season came in 1965 when he was named the team's most valuable player. He then went on to play for the Los Angeles Rams before rounding off his playing career with the Eagles in 1968.
Despite his successful career as a player, Cross became better known for his work as a sports commentator. After his retirement from the NFL, Cross ventured into broadcasting, where he worked as a commentator and an analyst. He was the first African-American sports analyst to cover NFL for CBS Sports. He also spent a considerable amount of time with CBS, where he covered several football games, including the Super Bowl. Cross was a fierce advocate for diversity in sports broadcasting and his contributions inspired many African-American sports broadcasters. He passed away in March 2021, and his legacy in American football and sports broadcasting will forever be remembered.
