J.T. Thomas Autographs
J.T. Thomas is a former American football player who was born on March 22, 1955, in Macon, Georgia. He attended Central High School in Macon, where he was a standout athlete in both football and track. He went on to play college football at Florida State University, where he played defensive back and was part of the 1977 national championship team. Thomas was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round of the 1978 NFL Draft and played with the team for eight seasons, from 1978 to 1985.
During his time with the Steelers, Thomas became known for his speed and agility on the field, and he played a key role in the team's success during the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was a member of the "Steel Curtain" defense, which was one of the most dominant defenses in NFL history. Thomas was a starter on the Steelers' Super Bowl XIII and Super Bowl XIV championship teams, and he made a number of key plays in those games. He is perhaps best known for his interception of a pass by Dallas Cowboys quarterback Roger Staubach in the waning moments of Super Bowl XIII, which sealed the victory for the Steelers.
After leaving the Steelers in 1986, Thomas played one season with the Denver Broncos before retiring from football. In total, he played in 128 NFL games and recorded 22 interceptions, 7 sacks, and 5 fumble recoveries. After his playing career ended, Thomas went on to work as a coach and broadcaster. He currently resides in Pittsburgh and is still remembered as one of the greatest defensive backs in Steelers history.
