Tatum's career in football was marked by both success and controversy. He was a three-time Pro Bowl selection and a member of the Raiders team that won Super Bowl XI in 1977. However, Tatum was also involved in some of the most infamous plays in NFL history. He was responsible for a hit on Darryl Stingley in 1978 that left the New England Patriots wide receiver paralyzed for life. Additionally, Tatum's hit on Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Lynn Swann in the 1976 AFC Championship Game was the subject of much debate and controversy.

Tatum's career came to an end in 1980 when he suffered a knee injury in a game against the San Diego Chargers. He retired from football the following year and went on to pursue a career in real estate. Jack Tatum passed away in 2010 at the age of 61, leaving behind a complicated legacy in the world of American football. Despite the controversial moments in his career, Tatum remains one of the most recognized and celebrated players to have ever played the game. Read even more about Jack Tatum at Wikipedia
