Blake played college football at East Carolina University and was drafted by the New York Jets in the sixth round of the 1992 NFL Draft. He played for the Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, Arizona Cardinals, and Philadelphia Eagles during his 14-year career in the league. He was known for his strong arm and ability to make deep throws, which made him a favorite among his coaches and fans. He retired in 2006 with a total of 21,711 passing yards, 133 touchdowns, and 92 interceptions. Blake's football career was marked by many highlights, including leading the Bengals to the playoffs for the first time in over a decade in 1995.

Off the field, Blake was known for his charitable work and community leadership. He founded the Jeff Blake Foundation in 2003 to provide scholarships to students in need and support various community initiatives in his native Florida. He remains an active member of the East Carolina University Alumni Association and has been recognized for his contributions both on and off the football field.
