Jeff Hartings was an American football player who played in the National Football League (NFL) for a total of eleven seasons. He played as a center for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Detroit Lions. Hartings was born on September 9, 1972, in St. Henry, Ohio, and attended St. Henry High School where he played football, basketball, and track. Hartings was selected as the 23rd overall pick by the Detroit Lions in the 1996 NFL draft. He played for the Lions for the first four seasons of his career before joining the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2001. Hartings was named to the Pro Bowl twice in his career, in 2001 and 2004. He was also named to the All-Pro team in 2001, and was a key player in the Pittsburgh Steelers team that won the Super Bowl XL in 2006.
