Jerricho Cotchery is a retired American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 12 seasons from 2004 to 2015. He was born on June 16, 1982, in Birmingham, Alabama, and attended Phillips High School. Cotchery continued his football career at North Carolina State University, where he played from 2000 to 2003. Cotchery was selected by the New York Jets in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft, and he started his professional career with the team. He spent seven seasons with the Jets, during which he played in 105 games and caught 358 passes for 4,514 yards and 18 touchdowns. Cotchery's best year with the Jets was in 2007 when he recorded 82 receptions for 1,130 yards and 2 touchdowns. In 2011, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he played for three seasons. Cotchery was a key contributor to the Steelers' offensive success during his tenure, and he helped them reach the playoffs twice.

Cotchery retired from the NFL in 2016 after a brief stint with the Carolina Panthers. He finished his career with 524 receptions for 6,623 yards and 34 touchdowns in 156 games. Cotchery was known for his reliable hands, route-running skills, and clutch performances in critical moments. He was also a respected teammate and a community leader who was involved in charitable work. Cotchery's impressive football career earned him many accolades and honors, including induction into the North Carolina State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019.
