Jim Irsay Autograph

Jim Irsay, born on June 13, 1959, is an American businessman and owner of the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League (NFL). Irsay inherited the Colts from his father, Robert Irsay, who had acquired the team in 1972. During his tenure, Irsay has overseen the team’s relocation from Baltimore to Indianapolis in 1984 and has led them to two Super Bowl appearances, winning Super Bowl XLI in 2006. Irsay grew up with a passion for American football and was a ball boy for the Baltimore Colts during his teenage years. He later attended Southern Methodist University (SMU) and, after graduating, joined his father’s Colts organization in 1982. As an executive vice president, Irsay helped the team transition from Baltimore to Indianapolis and played a critical role in building its new stadium, Lucas Oil Stadium.

Beyond his leadership in the sport, Irsay has been involved in philanthropy and is a strong advocate for mental health awareness. In 2013, he donated $1 million to a mental health center in Indiana and regularly speaks about his own struggles with addiction and depression. Irsay has also been recognized for his contributions to the sport, being inducted into the Indiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.
