Jim Leonhard was born on October 27, 1982, in Tony, Wisconsin. He was a standout athlete in football, basketball, and track at Flambeau High School. After attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he played college football for the Badgers, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills in 2005. More about Jim Leonhard

Leonhard's career as a professional football player spanned nearly a decade, playing for teams such as the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, Denver Broncos, and Buffalo Bills again before retiring in 2014. He was known for his exceptional skills as a safety and his ability to read offenses well, earning him the nickname "The Professor." During his career, he recorded 14 interceptions, 7.5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles.

After retiring from playing, Leonhard became a coach, starting as a special teams coordinator at Wisconsin for three seasons before joining the University of Wisconsin-Madison football staff as a defensive coordinator in 2020. He is revered as one of the most successful players to come out of Wisconsin and has made a significant impact on the game.
