Jim Mora is a former American football coach who has had a distinguished career in the sport. He was born on November 19, 1961, in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in a football-loving family. His father, Jim Mora Sr., was a legendary NFL coach who led the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts to playoff appearances.
Mora started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Washington in 1984, where he helped the Huskies win a national championship. He then had stints as an assistant coach with various teams in both the NCAA and NFL, including the San Diego Chargers, New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, and Seattle Seahawks. In 1998, Mora was finally given his first head coaching job when he was hired by the Atlanta Falcons.
As the head coach of the Falcons, Mora led the team to an 11-5 record in his first year and guided them to the NFC Championship game, where they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles. He enjoyed two more winning seasons in Atlanta before he was fired in 2006 after a disappointing 7-9 season. Mora then spent a year as a TV analyst before he returned to coaching in 2007 as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. However, he was fired after just one season due to the team's poor performance. Despite these setbacks, Mora is widely regarded as one of the most successful football coaches of his generation, with a deep understanding of the game and an ability to motivate his players to excel.
