Jim Otto Autographs
Jim Otto is a retired American football center who is best known for his incredible career in the National Football League (NFL). Born on January 5, 1938, in Wausau, Wisconsin, Otto grew up playing various sports, but eventually fell in love with football. He attended the University of Miami, where he played college football before being drafted by the Oakland Raiders in 1960 as the 24th pick overall.
During his NFL career, Otto was a 10-time Pro Bowl selection and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980. His unmatched work ethic and impressive skills as a center made him a leader on the Raiders team. In his 15 seasons with the Raiders, he never missed a game and was known for playing through numerous injuries. Remarkably, he played in 210 consecutive games, despite numerous knee surgeries and other ailments.
In addition to his impressive football career, Otto is known for revolutionizing the position of center in the NFL. He was the first player to use the "triple grip" technique, where he would snap the ball with two hands and then use a third hand to deliver a punch to the opposing defensive player. This technique made it difficult for defenders to get past Otto and helped him become one of the greatest centers in NFL history.
