Jim Owens Autographs
Jim Owens was an American baseball player who was born on January 16, 1927. He grew up in Oklahoma City and attended Capitol Hill High School where he played baseball and football. Owens played college baseball at the University of Oklahoma where he was a standout pitcher. After college, Owens signed with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1952, beginning his professional baseball career.
Owens made his Major League Baseball debut with the Phillies in 1955 as a starting pitcher. He quickly established himself as one of the team's top players, earning a reputation as a fierce competitor on the mound. Owens had a solid career, pitching for the Phillies from 1955 to 1961 and later for the Houston Astros from 1962 to 1963. During his career, Owens achieved a record of 84-85 with an ERA of 3.76, appearing in 356 games with 172 starts.
Jim Owens retired from professional baseball in 1963, but his legacy continued beyond the field. After his baseball career, Owens became a successful businessman and philanthropist. He was known for his generous donations to the University of Oklahoma and his support for various charitable causes. Today, Owens is remembered as a talented athlete and a respected member of the baseball community.
