In his sophomore year, he was an All-Big Ten Conference selection, which established him as one of the premier defensive players in the league. He went on to complete his college football career at Penn State, where he was a first-team All-Big Ten selection and earned First-Team All-American honours from the Associated Press and the Football Writers Association of America. This performance helped him become a first-round pick of the St. Louis Rams in the 2003 NFL Draft.
Kennedy's professional football career spanned from 2003 to 2011, and he played for several teams, including the St. Louis Rams, Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Minnesota Vikings. He was known for his size, athleticism, and strength on the field. Throughout his career, Kennedy recorded 193 tackles and 8.5 sacks. In addition to his impressive football career, Kennedy was also known for his charitable work, specifically his Jimmy Kennedy Foundation, which focused on providing educational opportunities to underprivileged youth.
