Joe Fortunato Autographs
Joe Fortunato was a professional American football linebacker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 12 seasons. He was born on March 28, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, and attended Mississippi State University, where he excelled at football. After graduation, Fortunato was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the seventh round (80th overall) of the 1952 NFL Draft.
Fortunato spent his entire NFL career with the Chicago Bears, playing from 1955 to 1966. He was a key player in the Bears' defense during the 1950s and 1960s and was known for his physicality and hard-hitting style of play. He was selected to the Pro Bowl five times (1958, 1960-62, 1964) and was named All-Pro three times (1958, 1962, 1963). He played in a total of 155 regular-season games, recording 16 interceptions, 22 fumble recoveries, and 12.5 sacks.
In addition to his NFL career, Fortunato was also a successful businessman and philanthropist. He owned several successful car dealerships in Chicago, and was known for his generosity and support of charitable causes. Joe Fortunato passed away on November 6, 2017, at the age of 87. His legacy as one of the greatest linebackers in Chicago Bears history continues to inspire football fans and players alike today.
