Joe Kapp is a former American football quarterback and coach. He was born on March 19, 1938, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Kapp attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he played football and baseball. Kapp played in the CFL for six seasons, from 1959 to 1966, mainly for the British Columbia Lions. He led the Lions to the Grey Cup championship in 1964, earning league MVP honors. In 1967, Kapp returned to the United States to play for the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL. He played for the Vikings from 1967 to 1969, leading them to their first-ever Super Bowl appearance in the 1969 season.
