Joe Klecko Autographs
Joe Klecko is a former American football defensive lineman who played in the NFL for twelve seasons. He was born in Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1953 and played college football at Temple University. Klecko was drafted by the New York Jets in the sixth round of the 1977 NFL Draft, where he played from 1977 to 1987.
During his time with the Jets, Klecko became a four-time Pro Bowler and earned All-Pro honors on three different occasions. He was a part of one of the NFL's most dominant defensive lines known as the "New York Sack Exchange," which also featured Mark Gastineau, Abdul Salaam, and Marty Lyons. Together, the quartet became known for their tough and aggressive play, often putting opposing quarterbacks in a difficult position.
After leaving the Jets, Klecko played one more season with the Indianapolis Colts before retiring after the 1988 season. He finished his career with 24 sacks, two interceptions, and eight fumble recoveries. After his playing days were over, Klecko spent time as a football coach and worked as an analyst for radio and television. In 2019, he was inducted into the New York Jets' Ring of Honor, cementing his legacy as one of the franchise's greatest players.
