Joe RobbieJoe Robbie was a prominent American lawyer and businessman who was mainly involved in American Football. He is famously known for the creation of the Miami Dolphins, a football franchise which he owned and managed. Robbie was born in 1916 in South Dakota, and he later moved to Minneapolis, where he earned his law degree from the University of Minnesota. In the 1950s, he worked as an attorney in Washington, D.C., representing athletes and teams like the Washington Redskins.
Joe Robbie first showcased his love for football in his early year. During his time in the Navy, Joe was the head coach of the Naval Academy football team. However, his most remarkable career milestone in football came in 1965 when he co-founded the Miami Dolphins. Under his leadership, the team went on to win two back to back Super Bowl championships, in 1972 and 1973. Robbie built a state-of-the-art stadium for the Dolphins now known as Hard Rock Stadium, which hosted many championship games and became famous in the footballing world.
Joe Robbie was a significant contributor to the growth and development of American football, primarily with his role in the successful Miami Dolphins franchise. He served as the principal owner of the team until his death in 1990.
