Joey Jones is a retired Welsh professional footballer born on 19th March 1955 in Llandudno, Wales. He is well known for his illustrious career as a defender, which spanned over 19 years. Jones began his football career at Wrexham in 1972 where he quickly became a popular and influential figure. His performances for the club earned him a reputation as one of the hardest working and resilient players in the game. Joey Jones played over 500 games for Wrexham, during which he won numerous accolades, including the Welsh Cup and The Football League Trophy.
In 1978, Jones was signed by Liverpool Football Club for a fee of £110,000. His arrival at Liverpool marked the start of a successful period for the club, during which they won several titles both domestically and internationally. Joey Jones was a key player for Liverpool during this time, and his tireless work rate and combative style of play made him a favorite among the fans. He played a vital role in Liverpool's successful campaigns in the European Cup, League Cup, and FA Cup. Jones totalled 87 appearances for Liverpool, scoring one goal, before he left the club in 1981 to join Chelsea.
After leaving Liverpool, Joey Jones went on to play for Chelsea, Huddersfield Town, Doncaster Rovers, and Swansea City.
