John Dutton Autographs
Born on November 13, 1957, in the United States, John Dutton is a retired professional American football quarterback. He played college football for the University of Nevada, Reno, where he led the Wolf Pack to winning seasons in both his junior and senior year. In the 1983 NFL draft, Dutton was selected by the Baltimore Colts in the sixth round as the 149th overall pick. Dutton played for several teams, including the Colts, the Los Angeles Express, the Denver Broncos, the Phoenix Cardinals, and the Miami Dolphins, in his 13-year NFL career from 1983 to 1995.
As a professional quarterback, Dutton's most successful period was with the Denver Broncos. During the 1985 season, he filled in for the injured starting quarterback, John Elway, leading the team to four consecutive victories, including two over division rivals, Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders. Dutton's contribution to the Broncos' success that year was crucial in securing the team's playoff spot. In 1988, Dutton made his first start of the season against the Seattle Seahawks, throwing for 388 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Broncos to a 34-21 victory. That year, he finished with 2,007 passing yards and 13 touchdowns. Despite his impressive performance, Dutton was traded to the Phoenix Cardinals the next season.
Dutton retired from the NFL in 1996, having made 54 career starts and throwing for 11,902 yards and 60 touchdowns. After his retirement, he worked as a football color analyst for the Mountain West Conference and as a radio host for Sports Radio 810 WHB in Kansas City. Dutton was also inducted into the University of Nevada, Reno's Hall of Fame in 1995, in addition to being recognized as an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press in 1982. Despite facing many challenges, John Dutton's career in the NFL is a testament to his determination and skill, making him a beloved figure in American football.
