He is a former American football wide receiver, who played in the National Football League (NFL) for ten seasons between 1978 and 1988. He first played for the San Diego Chargers, where he spent four seasons and established himself as one of the best wide receivers in the league. He then played for the Green Bay Packers and the Cleveland Browns before finishing his career with the Los Angeles Raiders in 1988.
Jefferson was known for his exceptional speed, agility, and receiving skills. He was a three-time Pro Bowler, a two-time All-Pro, and the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1978. In his first season with the Chargers, he caught 56 passes for 1,001 yards and 13 touchdowns. He continued to put up impressive numbers with the Chargers, including a career-high 1,340 receiving yards in 1980, and helped lead them to the playoffs three times during his tenure. He finished his career with 470 receptions for 7,023 yards and 51 touchdowns.
