John Mara's American Football career began in the 1970s when he interned with the New York Giants. After completing his education, he joined the team full-time in 1980 as a legal counsel. In 1991, Mara became the team's executive vice president, and he was instrumental in the acquisition of new head coach Tom Coughlin and general manager Ernie Accorsi. During Mara's leadership, the Giants achieved several major wins, including two Super Bowl victories in 2007 and 2011.
