John Riggins Autographs
John Riggins is a former professional football player who spent 14 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Born in Seneca, Kansas on August 4, 1949, Riggins attended the University of Kansas and played as a running back for the Jayhawks. He was drafted in the first round by the New York Jets in 1971 and played for them for five seasons, where he earned his nickname, "The Diesel," for his powerful running style.
In 1976, Riggins joined the Washington Redskins, where he played for nine seasons and solidified his place in NFL history. He helped lead the team to their first Super Bowl victory in 1983, rushing for a record 166 yards and scoring a touchdown in the game. He retired after the 1985 season with 13,442 career rushing yards and is now considered one of the best running backs in NFL history.
Throughout his career, Riggins was known for his incredible work ethic and his ability to push through tough obstacles on the field. He was also known for his charismatic personality and was often seen as a larger-than-life figure off the field as well. Riggins was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992, and his legacy in football continues to be celebrated by fans and players alike.
