Johnny Lattner was a legendary American football player, born on October 24th, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in a family of six and started playing football at Fenwick High School. It was evident from an early age that he had an innate talent for the game, and he quickly became a standout player on the field.
Lattner continued to play football at the University of Notre Dame, where he cemented his status as one of the greatest players to ever wear a Fighting Irish uniform. He played both offense and defense, making him a versatile and valuable player for the team. In his senior year, Lattner won the Heisman Trophy, which cemented his reputation as one of the best college football players in history.
After college, Lattner was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1954 NFL Draft, but he decided to stay in the Chicagoland area and play for the Chicago Bears, where he spent his entire professional career. Lattner's NFL career was limited due to injuries, but he was still a vital member of the team, helping them win the NFL Championship in 1963. After retiring from football, Lattner went on to work in sales and was active in the Notre Dame alumni community, always embodying the spirit of the Fighting Irish.
