Johnny Roland Autographs
Johnny Roland is a former American football player and coach who was born on July 7, 1943, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is known to be one of the most successful running backs to ever play the game. Roland's interest in football started when he was young which landed him a scholarship to the University of Missouri where he played from 1962 to 1964.
During his college years, Roland was named All-American twice and led the Tigers to a 21-7 record over his final three seasons. In 1965, he was drafted in the first round by the St. Louis Cardinals. Johnny played as a running back for both the Cardinals and New York Giants during his professional career, which spanned from 1965 to 1973. He was equally known for his exceptional receiving skills out of the backfield and played an integral part in the Cardinals' playoff appearance in 1974. Roland also made two career Pro Bowl appearances and was named All-Pro twice.
After retiring from the sport, Roland went on to become a successful football coach, serving as the head coach for both the University of South Carolina and Duke University. He was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 2000 in recognition of his excellent career in football. From his days as a young athlete in Texas to his successful career as a professional player and coach, Johnny Roland has forever made his mark on American football.
