Keith Millard is a former American football defensive tackle, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport. During his illustrious career, which spanned over a decade, he played for several teams, most notably the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks, and the Green Bay Packers. Born on March 18, 1962, in Pleasanton, California, Millard began his football journey in high school, where he played as a linebacker and defensive end.
In 1985, Keith Millard was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the first round, as the 13th overall pick. He immediately made an impact, recording a total of 11 sacks and earning the title of the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. Millard's performance was even more impressive the following year, where he set the NFL's single-season record for sacks by a defensive tackle, with a total of 18.0 sacks, a record that still stands today. He continued his success throughout his time with the Vikings, earning several Pro Bowl selections and the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 1989.
In addition to his time with the Vikings, Keith Millard also played for the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers, before retiring in 1996. Millard's impact on the game was significant, as he was known for his incredible strength, speed, and technique. He was also credited with revolutionizing the defensive tackle position, as he was one of the first players to use unconventional pass-rushing moves, such as the swim move and bull rush. Today, Millard is regarded as one of the greatest defensive tackles in the history of American football and has been inducted into several halls of fame.
