Ken Margerum Autographs
Ken Margerum is a former American football wide receiver who played in the National Football League (NFL) for six seasons in the 1980s. Born on October 13, 1958, in Media, Pennsylvania, Margerum attended Stanford University, where he played college football and became one of the top receivers in the country. During his college career, he set numerous school records, including most touchdown receptions in a single season (13) and most career receptions (141). In 1980, he was named a First-Team All-American and was a finalist for the Fred Biletnikoff Award, given to the nation's top college receiver.
Margerum was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the third round of the 1981 NFL Draft. He spent his first four seasons with the Bears, where he was a reliable target for quarterback Jim McMahon. He earned a reputation as a clutch performer, making several critical catches in key moments. In his rookie season, Margerum helped the Bears win Super Bowl XVII, catching a touchdown pass in the game. In 1985, he played a crucial role in the Bears' dominant season, catching 39 passes for 525 yards and six touchdowns. He was a key member of the Bears' offense that season, which was known as the "Monsters of the Midway." After his time with the Bears, Margerum spent two seasons with the San Francisco 49ers before retiring in 1988 with 2,430 receiving yards and 22 touchdowns in his career.
Since his retirement from football, Margerum has stayed involved in the sport as a coach and mentor. He has coached at the high school and college levels, as well as helped train young football players. He has also been active in his community, serving as a volunteer and as a board member for various organizations. In 2013, he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, recognizing his achievements as one of the best football players in the state's history. Margerum's career as a wide receiver was defined by his consistent production and clutch performances, which helped him become a key player on two Super Bowl teams. His legacy has continued to inspire football players and fans throughout the years.
